Letting go of perfection!

Some days ago, I posted “letting go of perfection!” on facebook and received a list of encouraging words from friends… Thanks to all!

Am I a perfectionist? I guess I am…

I want a home where no ants can find us! I want kids who will keep their toys everytime after playing… I want to keep a smile on my face all the time! And now I am laughing to what I had just type! Well, welcome to the real world… I am letting go of these perfections and ideals in me…

Looking at these pictures make me laugh now… But when it is not in a picture, I can hardly lift up my cheek muscles to smile!

Play = Mess or Mess = Play

Ok.. this is part and parcel of a home with kids 🙂

Back to Petite Home…

Wow! Realized I had been away from blog for 2 months! These 2 months had been crazy busy and eventful for us..

…my birthday, Ju’s birthday, Joshua’s birthday, John’s birthday, Ju went for occupational therapy, me down with a vicious gum infection and food poisoning, John went on 2 weeks reservist, Ju on one week school holiday, Jeanne down with false measles, me embarking on some sewing projects… and of course, John working very hard on the website business everyday…

Oh my! Can you see how our days were were filled all this while… Well, I will update as I go along.. Stay tuned 🙂

Lesson of patience from Ju

Dinnertime… John and I had finished our dinner but Ju was talking, talking and talking with his spoon in his hand but not eating…

Me: (Raised impatient tone) Ju can you finish your dinner quickly then I can wash the dishes!

Ju: (Cool and calm tone) Mummy… Don’t be so fierce ok. You must be patient. You must ask me like that… (Slow and cool tone) Ju Ju, can you please finish your dinner so that I can wash the dishes?

I was so amused by his comment! My son teaching me patience! And yes I should be patient.

Me: (Lean over the table, looked at him with a big smile) Ju Ju, can you please finish your dinner so that I can wash the dishes?

Ju : OK! (Then start eating on his own with big spoonful of rice and subsequently finished his plate of dinner!)

Paris – Day 8

Tuesday… Yeah! Today I am going to bring Ju out alone to Cite Des Enfants… Kids Science Centre… It is meant for kids between 2 to 7 years old. The challenge is in taking train and asking for directions within the science centre… but I did it! haha! So proud of myself lah! The train stations here are not children friendly at all. Majority of the stations have lots of stairs, no escalators or lifts to take. Even going through the entrance gantry is a challenge with a child and stroller. I wonder how does people on wheelchair move around.

Arrival at Cite Des Enfants…

Queueing for tickets… thank God the ticketing staffs can converse in English. She said the next session starts at 2.40pm which means I have an hour to wait. I did some homework before coming so I knew the ticket consist of a 3D show which we went to watch at the end of the day and Ju broke his 3D spectacles, so embarrassed when I returned the staff the broken pieces. I guessed broken specs should be something common among kids because he gave me a smile and said something in French which I did not understand… hee

We went for lunch at a cafe while waiting. The menu was all in French. Staffs cannot understand English. I ordered a dish called “poulet roti, frites”. I thought it is chicken burger but turned out to be my favourite fried chicken with fries… Heng!

Yeah time for play! The lady was speaking french and kids were sitting in groups like that around…Ju also sat together with them… I realised later that they are actually groups of school kids on excursion… Oops!

Entrance to the play area! Wow! Everything were low at kids level and the kids just knew waht to do once they stepped in! All the kids went “crazy” when they were inside.. haha! I love this place too… If Singapore has something like this…

Construction site… Ju loved this corner! Unfortunately he did not get much time to play here… only stayed there for about 10mins then a staff came and announced session ended… Think we will go back this weekend again to finish up the remaining sections which we missed…

J4 – SHE is 15 weeks old!

15 weeks… Thank God nausea and fatigue subsiding, it felt forever! I am beginning to feel faint butterfly flutters at times within me.. Not too sure is it baby kicks or air bubbles in tummy..

Gynae : Do you want to know the gender of baby?

Me : Yes!

Gynae : Ok. It is time to shop for new clothes.

Me : It’s a girl?? Sure or not? Usually it won’t be accurate till baby is born.. haha!

Gynae : Ok! Today I tell you 100% it is a girl. The next time you come will be 150% sure! Haha!

Ha! I can’t believe it! I am so happy! haha!!!!

Hmm.. Can start looking out for a name!

Everything finally has its place now! I like the idea of the 2 low shelves back to back. I can use it as a tabletop to do my crafts and sewing.

Julian eager to start working!

Ju : I did it!
